7-Eleven stores are almost everywhere and are
open 24hrs. Security Cameras play an important role to protect the employees
and the Franchise.
All 7-eleven have at least 1 or 2 security system in place. One is provided by the 7-eleven corporation to the franchise, and another one is usually bought by the franchise from a vendor of his choice.CCTV products are changing for the better very fast, almost every month there is a new camera in the market.
It is very hard for the franchise to keep up with the changes. Sometimes due to lack of information or confusion. Businessmen choose the wrong CCTV product or the wrong installer.
In my honest opinion, an HD-TVI DVR with BNC out and built in POS interface is the correct product. The outside TV in the store is a good deterrent for the few bad element in the society. The POS interface or cash register interface keep the franchise protected from his own greedy and dishonest employees.
Sometimes the employee can skip a few items from the POS scanner, just because the customer is known to him/her or a family member. Sometimes the customer is short changed, and the extra money can be allowed as gas to his friend standing at the pumps getting free gas. It is very hard to catch an employee like this if the POS interface is not installed correctly and the camera location correctly. Cameras need to watch the cash area from two different directions, left and the right just in case one view is blocked on purpose by the employee with his back. One or two cameras must be placed to capture the product and the customer. Audio can also help near the cash register, especially if the store has gas. The customer can come back and dispute the fact that he paid $20 not $10 for example.If you ever played Blackjack or any other game you will notice, the dealer puts the bill on the table and says something like $100 incoming or something like that. The reason is to get everything recorded just in case; numbers don’t add up, or a crime happens.If the clerk at Gas Station adopts the same formula, the business with the correct CCTV equipment can prevent loss and avoid any drama in the business.
Most installers do not even know that POS interface is possible in HD quality and don't need to charge the client an arm and leg.
